پژوهشگر آتئیست معروف Thunderfoot بعد از اجتماع کم حجم در راهپیمایی در سال 2016 میگوید که :
I'm not sure there is anything in this movement worth saving. Hitchens is dead. Dawkins simply doesn't have the energy for this sort of thing anymore. Harris went his own way. And Dennett just kind of blended into the background. So what do you think when the largest gathering of the nonreligious in history pulls in... I don't know. Maybe 2,000 people. من مطمئن نیستم که جنبش نیو آتئیسم ارزش حفظ کردن دارد یا نه!! هیچنز مرده است!! داوکینز میگوید که دیگر توانی ندارد!! سم هریس راه خودش را رفت!! و دنت هم به حاشیه جریان رفته است... تو فکر میکنی که چرا گردهمایی های بزرگ افراد بی دین در طول تاریخ از بین رفته است؟؟ من دلیلش نمیدونم!! .... در گرد همایی امروز تقریبا 2 هزا نفر شرکت کردند!! آیا فکر میکنید از این جریان چیزی باقی میماند؟؟

میزان استقبال از چهره های نیو آتئیسم نیز بطور چشمگیری کاهش پیدا کرده است!!
برای مثال با تحلیل آمار سایت ریچارد داوکینز مشخص شده است که از آمار 500 هزار بازدید در روز در سال 2009 به آمار 40 هزار بازدید در روز در سال 2016 رسیده است!!

پی زد مایرز یک دانشمند مشهور آتئیست و فعال در تبلیغ اتئیسم است!! آتئیست های ایرلند طی بیانیه ای اعلام کردند که :

آتئیست های ایرلند راهشان را از اندیشه های مضر و غیر انسانی ونفرت انگیز و خشونت آور پی زد مایرز جدا کرده اند!!

ما شاهد عکس العمل های اعتراض های شدید به جنبش نیو آتئیسم از طرف مومنین و خود بیخدایان هستیم!! این جنبش حملات سنگینی از طرف منتقدین آن دریافت کرده است (مخصوصا در جهان بینی شان) به نظر میرسد این جنبش ضد ترقی و پیشرفت باشد در واقع این جنبش یک بنیاد گرایی افراطی اما از جنس سکولار آن است!! دکتر ولرمن که خود سابقا یک بیخدا بوده است در این باره خطرات و تهدیدات این جنبش میگوید:آتئیست های جدید افراطی و بنیاد گرا هستند. آنها همچنین انتقاد پذیر نیستند و مخصوصا در علم متعصب هستند . آنها دین را به شکل بچه گانه ای فهمیده اند . آتئیست ها به طور شدیدی اسلام هراسی میکنند و نمیتوانند نظرات دیگران را تحمل کنند!!
